Questions from students and parents

Facts to know about apprenticeships at klh

We make every effort to ensure transparency and open communication on a level playing field. We have prepared a list of frequently asked questions and the appropriate answers, detailing some of the most important information, to resolve some issues and concerns beforehand.

  • How long is the probationary period for the apprenticeship?

The probationary period is 4 months.

  • What happens after I have submitted my application?

Once your application has been recorded in our system, you will receive a confirmation of receipt and your application will be forwarded to the relevant instructor. He or she will review your application together with the training manager and they will jointly decide which applicants will be considered for the next step. You can find further information on the "Application process" page.

  • What type of support is given during the training period?

There are several advisers throughout the training programme to give support to the apprentices. The first person to contact is the relevant instructor whose door is open to answer questions.

  • Is there a contact person to talk to about any issues regarding formal training and dual education programmes?

Yes, indeed. The contact person for the administrative and accounting area is Ms Karin Weingärtner, while Mr Jan-Erik Ahrens is responsible for the industrial area.

  • When do the formal training programmes start?

Formal training programmes start on 1 September every year.

  • What happens after the successful completion of the formal training programme? What are my career opportunities at klh?

For us, today's apprentices are the highly qualified personnel of tomorrow. This is confirmed by the fact that well over 90 per cent of apprentices are hired on a permanent basis. The question as to in which area an apprentice finds placement depends on several factors: Where are the strengths of the apprentice? Which area is of particular interest to the apprentice? In which areas does KLH need new talent?

  • When does the application process start?

The application process for the following year typically starts during the summer holidays of the previous year.
